KNOWSLEY’S Citizens Advice has received a £24,513 grant from the Government.

The cash - which comes out of the Government’s Transition Fund - will help continue to fund the advice service over the coming months.

Chief executive Kelvin Jones said: “I am delighted to have received this amount of funding which will assist us in consolidating the operational changes made due to reductions in funding, enhance volunteer training and compile awareness literature.

“We do however, note publicly the support and funding we receive from Knowsley Council and other funders.”

Francis Maude, Minister for the Cabinet Office, added: “We all want a bigger, stronger society where people get involved and do their bit.

“This isn’t new – there are already loads of people right across Britain taking responsibility and making our communities better places to live.

“What is new is that this Government is making it easier for people to do more.”
