Wigan Youth Brass Band are in cConcert at St James the Great Church, Haydock. Doors open at 7pm. and the concert begins at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7 (including refreshments) and can be purchased at the door. Proceeds from the Concert will go to sponsor a young Girl scout who has been chosen to represent St Helens at the World Scouting Jamboree in Japan in 2015.

St Peter’s Church in Newton-le-Willows hosts a spring concert by Rainford Ladies Ecumenical Choir starting at 7.30pm. Admission costs £5. All proceeds to church funds.

g Our Lady’s Portico Church Hall is hosting a plant sale between 10.30am and 4pm. There will a variety of bedding plants, hanging baskets as well as refreshment and raffle.

Rainford Parish Church Hall opens its parish shop between 10am and 4pm. The shop will also be open on Monday to Friday. There will plants, bric-a-bric and other items on sale. Admission is free.
g A plant sale will be held at Peasley Cross United Reformed Church in Beaufort Street in Suttonbetween 10am and 2pm. There will be good quality bedding plants and hanging baskets supplied by Gorse Lodge Nursery. The sale will be held on Held on Saturday, May 24.
St Helens Parish Church holds a short lunchtime service, starting at 12.30pm. The 20-minute service includes hymns and Bible readings.
g St Michael’s All Angels church on Gartons Lane, Clock Face, holds craft classes for beginners from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Why not pop in and join them? Parishioners also enjoy a cup of tea and a chat after every Sunday’s 9.30am service.
West Street Independent Methodist Church holds its luncheon club providing a three-course meal and hot drink for £3.70 in the church hall between 11.45am and 12.30pm. There is no need to book.
Feeling low on a Thursday? Why not attend West Street Independent Methodist Church’s Club in Thatto Heath. The festivities start from 2pm for two hours of quizzes, music, games and friendly chat.
