DETECTIVES are appealing for information after burglars stole a car containing a child’s wheelchair from outside a house.
Offenders are believed to have entered the house between midnight on Monday January 25 and 8.15am on Tuesday January 26 and taken the occupier’s handbag, which contained cash and bank cards and keys to a blue 2008 Vauxhall Corsa. The wheelchair was in the boot of the car.
Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the car around the Kirkby area or know of its whereabouts to contact them.
CCTV opportunities have been explored and enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Robbie Moss said: “The family are understandably upset that their car has been stolen – which has been made even worse by the fact a child’s wheelchair was in the boot.
“The wheelchair is of no value to anybody else but is needed by the family and I would appeal to anyone who has any information about either the car or the wheelchair to contact us as soon as possible.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 0151 777 6561 or the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
