AMATEUR snappers are being given the chance to put their work on display - and help the local economy.

Council chiefs will use the current refurbishment of St Mary’s Market on Chalon Way to showcase the best of the town.

Large scale pictures of local landscapes and fauna will be used to give a unique feel to the market.

Markets manager Kevin Gavin said: “It’s an exciting opportunity for the local community to help create a fresh, bright new look for the market - that helps to show off St Helens at its best.”

Anyone who wants to submit their pictures of St Helens scenes, landscapes, landmarks, flora or fauna should email them to marketing@sthelens.gov.uk.

Alternatively they can put them onto a CD, marked for the attention of Jen McKenna, and handed in at St Helens Council’s Contact Centre Reception, Wesley House, Corporation Street.

All photographs – which need to be a minimum of 300dpi - should be accompanied by the photographer’s name, address, telephone number and details of the image location.

Those who submit images must be prepared to sign a copyright release form – allowing the council to use the photographs as appropriate.

Closing date for submissions is 23 April.
