Visitors to St Helens Cemetery will be greeted by the sight of 3,000 snowdrops in bloom next spring - thanks to the efforts of The Friends of St Helens Cemetery and St Helens Council rangers.

An appeal for donations to cover the cost of planting 1,000 snowdrops around the Children’s Memorial Headstone in the cemetery was so successful that the target was matched three-fold.

The great response was due in no small part to the Rotary Club of St Helens and Plant Life.

Help came from pupils from Bleak Hill Primary School, St Thomas of Canterbury RC Primary School.
