TWENTY birds were killed in a fire at an aviary in Prescot.
Firefighters were called to a detached aviary building, in the back garden of a home on Coronation Drive, shortly before midday on Monday (July 2).
Around 20 birds, including canaries and redpolls, were killed in the blaze.
Two fire appliances, from Whiston and Huyton, attended and firefighters were there for around an hour and a half.
The Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service Incident Investigation Team (IIT) is now looking into the cause of the incident.
Watch Manager Mike Kirby said: “An investigation into the incident is ongoing in a bid to determine the cause of the fire.”
