A MOTORCYCLIST from St Helens has been killed in a road collision.

The man was riding his Ducati bike along the A56 Warrington Road near Chester when he collided with a blue Fiat Punto driven by an 85-year-old man.

A police spokeswoman said both vehicles were travelling towards Chester when the incident occurred.

It is believed the driver of the Punto turned right towards the B5152 in front of the motorcyclist.

He received serious neck injuries and he was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital for emergency treatment.

He later died from his injuries.

The driver of the Fiat Punto was uninjured.
