Charities and other worthy causes are once again being invited to bid for donations of up to £500 from Rainhill Rotary Club.

Last year, cheques amounting to £8,650 were presented to successful bidders following the Club’s annual Dragon’s Den-style initiative.

Among the wide range of recipients were the Hargreaves Dementia Trust, Rainhill United JFC, 5th St Helens Scout Group, St Helens Mind, Wildcard ABC and the Carouselles Morris Dancers.

“But there must be many more needy causes within the local community of which we are just not aware,” said Mike Jones, chairman of the Rainhill Club’s organising committee. “And there must also be many people battling to raise funds for worthy causes who have never thought of approaching their local rotary club for backing.

“So, for the fourth time, we have decided to invite people to put forward their case for receiving funding from the club up to a maximum of £500.”

To apply for funding, simply fill out an application form and return it in time to meet the March 7 closing date.

Application forms can be downloaded from the Rotary Club’s website at: www.rainhillrc.freeserve.co.uk or 0151 431 1528.
