A 27-year-old woman from St Helens has admitted fraudulently claiming more than £14,000 of benefits.

Kerry Povey, of Smithfield Street, Parr, failed to tell benefits chiefs she was living with her employed partner.

This resulted in an overpayment of benefits totalling £14,153.05.

Povey was sentenced to 26 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, a 12 month community order including 150 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £300 costs and £80 victim surcharge.

She was also required to pay back the overpayment.
