Armed robbers strike at local firm

ARMED robbers struck in broad daylight at a car accessory firm in St Helens.

Two masked robbers targeted unit 24 on the Sutton Oak Drive trading estate armed with a wooden bat and an axe.

The offenders, who both spoke with Liverpool accents, entered the premises at 4.55pm - just before the business closed for the day.

They made off with a small amount of cash in a red Jaguar car which was driven by a third man. One employee was left “slightly injured”.

Police believe the car then struck another vehicle on Boardmans Lane, Parr, as the trio made their getaway - causing slight damage.

The Jaguar was later found abandoned on Dale Crescent in Sutton.

Both offenders who entered the business unit are described as white, 20 to 30 years old and between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall.

Anyone who knows anything about the incident can call St Helens CID on 0151 777 6811 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
