A man was assaulted while standing at the bar of the Railway House pub on Railway Street at around 11pm on Wednesday February 10.

The victim was hit twice, resulting in a swollen eye, bruising to the head and chipped teeth, before the offender ran out of the pub.

The man in the CCTV pictures is described as white, young and of slim build.

St Helens Inspector Andy Johnston said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack on a man enjoying a drink in a public place. Other people in or outside the pub may have witnessed the attack or the suspect running off, and any information received will be acted on.

“We are determined to bring the person responsible for this assault to justice and to continue to ensure that law-abiding members of the public feel safe in Newton-le-Willows.”

Anyone with information should ring St Helens CID on 0151 777 6806, call 101 or contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
