A LOCAL fund-raiser, David Morris, was named ‘Sheriff’ for the day when he officially opened the new Carr Mill Flaming Grill last weekend.

He was given the honour by the East Lancashire Road pub in recognition of his charitable work for the British Red Cross.

‘Sheriff’ David was joined by his ‘Deputies’ – family and friends – who were all treated to a flaming good time at the pub’s Wild West themed opening party.

The Carr Mill has undergone a £200,000 investment transforming it into St Helens’ first Flaming Grill, which boasts an authentic chargrill at the heart of its kitchen. The specially adapted menu means the majority of the dishes are served on a sizzling skillet to keep food hot and tasty and add that extra touch of theatre on a plate.

Pub general manager Lynsey Owens said: “Our pub has really got off to a blazing start and it was great to see the pub packed with people of all ages having fun and enjoying our Saloon style antics and magic tricks.”
