AN ex-serviceman was delighted to have his home adapted to help improve his quality of life.
Arthur Hale, 75, a member of the Royal Engineers who served his country in Libya detecting mines, has had a walk-in shower, handrails, easy access sink, radiators and air vents installed at his Prescot home.
Courtesy of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) and Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT) the adaptations have improved his life no end.
Mr Hale said: “Before, I could not use the bathroom without the help of my wife and my carer. It was a real struggle at times but the improvements have made a huge difference.
“The work that has been done really is fantastic and it has made life much easier for me and my family.”
Ian Thomson, KHT Executive Director of Asset Management, said: “This is a fantastic scheme that is helping those who served their country to live independent lives.”
