Adult learners in Knowsley are receiving training and learning from a ‘good’ provider – and that’s official!

Knowsley Family and Community Education (FACE) Service has been rated ‘good’ following an Ofsted inspection earlier this month.

Inspectors assessed the service against a number of criteria – effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of training, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare, outcomes for learnings and adult learning programmes – which were all rated ‘good’.

In particular, Inspectors highlighted the progress learners make, developing their skills, confidence and knowledge in order to improve their life chances as well as education and employment prospects.

Those who attend family learning courses also learn how to help their children with education.

Learners who completed their accredited qualifications successfully was high, tutors plan lessons which involve learners and motivate them to produce high standards of work and the provision has been developed to match local priorities in Knowsley.

It was also noted that managers have good links with employers and community groups and good up to date labour market information in order to plan provision to meet local needs.

Inspectors also commented on the Cabinet Member’s Councillor Gary See knowledge and expectations around the service which he has used to challenge and support managers. This is also reflected in tutors, who have high expectations of learners.

FACE operates in over 40 locations across Knowsley and provides an extensive range of affordable and accessible courses, some of which lead to qualification.

Councillor Gary See, cabinet member for Children and Family Services, said: “I’m delighted that our adult learning provision has been judged so positively.

“The breadth of learning opportunities and courses available really does mean there is something for everyone and many of our courses are free.

“As Ofsted pointed out, we are ensuring our learners leave with the skills and qualifications local employers are looking for.

“If you haven’t already taken a look at what FACE has to offer, I would encourage you to do so and receive the very best learning from a good provider.”

“From maths, English and IT skills through to counselling, food hygiene, flower arranging, cake decorating and language, FACE has a course and qualification for you!
