ST Helens Council’s Sports Development Team have scored the highest ever first assessment figure in the country for the prestigious Quest award.
Final score has been confirmed at 92 per cent that puts them at the sixth highest current assessment.
Quest is the UK quality scheme for sport and leisure and is designed to maintain high standards of management in leisure facilities and development.
Assessors spent several days with the team and identified a number of key strengths and good practice.
Singled out for praise were the clear strategic direction and the range of services provided. They noted that staff morale was high and all the team came across as professional with excellent knowledge of their individual working areas and the collective work of the team.
Also highlighted was the teams knowledge of the area and attention to details, which was ‘excellent’. Support systems in place were effective and partnership working was highly commended.
Deputy council leader said: “This is a tremendous achievement and everyone concerned are to be congratulated. We know that we are on the right lines to deliver sports activities that are proving affective across and wide range of communities and age groups.
