St Helens National Trust Centre meets at St Thomas’ Church, Westfield Street, starting at 2.30pm.

The speaker will be Elizabeth Newall on ‘Port Sunlight and the Lever Family’. Visitors welcome.

Newton-le-Willows Gardeners Association meets at Newton Sports and Cricket Club, starting at 7.30pm. The speaker will be Matthew Smith from Brighter Blooms, who will give a talk about summer and autumn flowering bulbs.

Sankey Canal Restoration Society will hold its next meeting at St Patrick;s Church Centre, Marian Avenue, Earlestown, starting at 7.30pm, The guest speaker will be Graham Dodd on ‘the Shropshire Union Canals’. Admission is free.

Saturday, March 1

The Helen Marie Friends charity holds a coffee morning at Rainford Parish Hall. Admission costs 50p and there will be a cake stall, tombola and raffle.

Wednesday, April 2

The St Helens Choir Festival will take place at 7pm at St Helens Parish Church with 13 choirs from all over St Helens taking part, raising money for Willowbrook Hospice.
