THE great and the good of St Helens and Prescot’s pub trade came together last week to toast the best of the area’s boozers.

The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) bash was held at the Duke of Cambridge - which was named as St Helens’ pub of the year - on Friday night.

Camra branch chairman Alan Healey said: “Nights like this are really special as it allows us as consumers to thank the people who work hard all year to provide us with good quality real ale which we can drink in the pleasant environment of their pubs and clubs.”

John and Chris Wilson from the Duke are pictured receiving their award from Mr Healey and guest of honour, St Helens MP Dave Watts.
