The next meeting of the St Helens Historical Society meets at the Friends Meeting House in Church Street for a film, introduced by local historian Ron Martin, on Liverpool’s ferries and overhead railway. The meeting starts at 7.30pm.

There will be a meeting of the Newton-le-Willows Gardeners’ Association at the Newton Cricket Club on Crow Lane East, starting at 7.30pm. The meeting will also be the annual general meeting.

The Helen Marie Friends charity holds a coffee morning at Rainford Parish Hall. Admission costs 50p and there will be a cake stall, tombola and raffle.

Friday, March 21

The Helen Marie Friends charity is staging a 1940s night with live music from GI Jive at St Mary’s Club, Trent Road, Billinge. 1940s dress is encouraged and there will be a hot pot supper with apple pie. The bash starts at 7.30pm until 11.30pm, and tickets cost £10.
