THE countdown has begun to the eagerly-anticipated St Helens 10K run.
Set to take place along North Road and in Victoria Park on March 20, runners can apply now to play their part in the massive charity event.
Among the famous local faces who have already signed up are ex-Saints stars Steve Prescott MBE and Paul Sculthorpe and hero soldier Corporal Andy Reid.
Steve Prescott, of course, is a veteran of numerous running events - including two London Marathons.
The ex-full back, 37, who is battling a rare form of stomach cancer, will take on the run to raise cash for the Steve Prescott Foundation, which supports both the Christie Hospital and the Rugby League Benevolent Fund.
Steve said: “We have been looking into the prospect of a run for quite some time. Many surrounding areas have already successfully organised races of this kind and I feel St Helens could benefit from having one of its own.
“Hopefully the run will be a focus for many people’s New Year’s resolutions.”
