Marketing a new future for St Mary’s

THE new look St Mary’s Market has opened for business with a bang!

Following an extensive redesign, it is hoped the market will retain a traditional atmosphere while hosting craft fayres, artisan markets and community events.

The new, flexible event space has been created within the market and was officially opened by National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) president Jeff Clarke

Stalls in the newly created area are now available for traders, old and new, who either have a business they wish to promote and grow – or want to launch.

The event space boasts over 50 stalls, most with designated parking for stall holders as well as a free listing on the market’s website. Most stalls currently qualify for full business rates relief.

Deputy council leader Barrie Grunewald said: “The new St Mary’s Market is the culmination of significant investment by the council.

“It will bring a range of new attractions into our town centre – adding value to every shopping trip and giving people that something extra.”

The market has signed up to the Real Deal Charter, which aims to support local market traders through proactive partnership working.
