Neil’s glee for the journey

PROLIFIC St Helens author Neil Daniels has published his latest offering ... a biography of rock band Journey, writes Andy Moffatt.

Twenty eight-year-old Neil, who works as a librian at Rainhill High School, interviewed a number of band insiders in the process of writing the book.

It’s his eighth tome and covers the entire career of the band, who have sold an incredible 75 million records worldwide.

During their prime in the 1980s, Journey scored a number of hits, including Lights, Open Arms and Only the Young.

But they found fresh appeal when one of their songs, Don’t Stop Believin’, became a stable song in the hit TV show Glee.

“The is book is called Don’t Stop Believin’ - The Untold Story Of Journey and charts the band’s history from their early jazz fusion days to their AOR years with Steve Perry right up to this year with the success of Glee,” said Neil, of Manville Street, Peasley Cross.

“It’s the first ever biography of Journey and will be published in paperback by Omnibus Press, the world’s biggest and most prestigious publisher of music books.

Meanwhile, Neil’s biography on Judas Priest has been translated into French, while the band themselves are about to embark on a farewell tour later this year.

The Priest are unlikely to be offering Neil (pictured) a VIP backstage pass, though. The hard rock outfit took exception to his unauthorised biography of them, with the band eventually taking to their website to denounce the book.

n Don’t Stop Believin’ is out on Omnibus Press.
