ONE of the county’s most talked about new writers comes to St Helens tomorrow night (Thursday).

Emma Jane Unsworth – whose other half is Guy Garvey, lead singer of Elbow – will be reading from her debut novel, Hungry, the Stars and Everything, at Central Library from 7pm.

Described as a witty and romantic story, the plot is set over a meal, with each course triggering memories that transport the central character – a food critic – back to the decisions, influences and places that have led her to the life she is now suddenly unsure of.

Emma Jane has written for a number of publications including City Life Magazine and the Manchester Evening News and her work has been published by Prospect magazine and Channel 4 Books. She also writes a fortnightly column for the Big Issue.

Copies of her book will be on sale at Central Library and Emma will be happy to sign one for visitors at the free event.

Light refreshments will be served and there is an opportunity to win a goody bag in a free raffle!

Places need to be booked in advance, so call 01744 677446 or email karenthornburn@sthelens.gov.uk to reserve yours.
