A CHARITY-MINDED couple, who have worked tirelessly helping sick children across St Helens have been presented with a prestigious award.
Marjorie and Arthur Hurst established the Helen Marie Friends in 1985 after their daughter, Helen Marie’s life was tragically cut short by a terminal illness.
And this week were presented with the Good Citizens Award by St Helens Mayor, Coun Tom Hargreaves in the Mayor’s Parlour at the Town Hall last week.
The fund commemorates the lionhearted spirit of the 12-year-old whose greatest love while she was alive, was to help others less fortunate than herself.
Ever since then Helen Marie’s parents, family and friends have worked relentlessly to try and alleviate the suffering of children during the times of illness.
The charity, now well established, has successfully provided help to many sick children regardless of their illness.
