Never mind Vienna, Ultravox singer songwriter Midge Ure is heading to St Helens to top the summer bill at the Citadel.
The internationally-renowned songwriter, who famously worked alongside Bob Geldof on the Live Aid single Feed the World, is set to bring the house down at the Waterloo Street venue in August.
But before then, there's something for everyone at the Citadel this summer - with highlights including a special acoustic night with Manchester band I Am Kloot and performances from Blues favourites King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys, Imelda May and The Nimmo Brothers.
Other highlights include The Levellers' Mark, Simon and Jon on their 'Drunk in Public' tour and influential Ska band The Beat.
If folk music is more your cup of tea, then you can look forward to stunning performances from Martin Simpson, Dave Swarbrick plus Eric Bogle's last ever tour.
The Citadel will also continue to showcase the very best tribute acts, including Limehouse Lizzy and Jean Genie, plus support the local music scene by giving bands the opportunity to perform at the regular Overload, Rubberneck and Intermission nights.
Look out for the Local Dialect Weekend in June too 'Sin Tellens Cum Wom' (St Helens Comes Home), in which there will be three adaptations of original and classic texts performed by the Hands On@The Citadel group in the Citadel and at Taylor Park.
Citadel chief executive Fay Lamb said: "Over the next six months we have some real treats in store, once again offering our growing audiences a mixture of renowned names as well as up and coming talent.
The Citadel has a well-deserved reputation as an intimate venue to see extraordinary events.
"Here at the Citadel we offer performances you cannot afford to miss but can afford to see."
