St Helens rockers Silver Story are to release their first ever professional recording.
The group was formed when frontman Alex McCabe and guitarist Brian Sambrooks met as students at Liverpool Hope University.
And the four-piece outfit debut EP Soulmate: Eliminate showcases their development from fledgling rockers to full-blown musicians.
Lead singer Alex, 20, said: "We already have a steady fan base in St Helens, Liverpool and online, but we're aiming to create a buzz in the whole of the North West before planning a national tour."
The band - Alex McCabe, Brian Sambrooks, Ben Taylor and Gary Haigh - are set to debut tracks from the EP at Fluid Live Lounge in St Helens on Saturday, January 31 from 9pm.
Alex describes the band's music as fist pumping, anthemic stadium rock and is hoping the gig and EP will increase their fan base.
The band will also be taking part in surface unsigned which is the UK's top festival for up and coming bands and a way of finding new audiences.
"We want to appeal to a younger audience too, at the moment we're playing mainly to university students but it's really the younger fans that help bands get to where they want to be,'' said Alex.
Alex, from Moss Bank, said: "Frantic, the lead single from Soulmate: Eliminate is about a bad experience I had when my drink was spiked, I tried to add a humorous element to the ordeal.
"We worked really hard on it and collaborated with top producers, we think people are going to like it. We believe we can become as successful as our idols, The Foo Fighters, Blink 182 and Coldplay."
* Silver Story's debut single 'Frantic' will be released by The Animal Farm later on in the year and will be available for download on itunes and other online music stores. For details of the band's forthcoming gigs and releases visit their myspace page www.myspace.com/silverstory
