PUPILS at a Newton school have welcomed a South African headteacher to their school as part of an exchange programme.
Selina Chabangu, who works at a school in Pretoria, will spend time at Lyme Community Primary sharing ideas and finding out about life in the UK.
As part of the exchange trip, Lyme teacher Sue Penketh will visit Pretoria in September.
Deputy headteacher Jonathan Haw said: “The children will use these visits to build links between the schools, writing letters, using the schools’ websites and email to explore and share each other’s cultures.
“Selina was particularly interested, and very impressed, to see how we include all pupils in a mainstream school. This was something she would work towards in South Africa.”
